Author of the Month: Christy Barritt's Favorite Scripture Passage!!

Christy finds this passage in Scripture most inspiring in her life:

Proverbs 16:3—Commit to the Lord whatever you do and all of your plans will succeed.
I like this verse because of its message. It doesn’t mean that if you’re in Christ everything you do will succeed by earthly standards. But it means that if you’re in Christ and you commit what you do to him, then your plans will succeed accord to Christ’s standards. We may not understand that “success” through our mortal eyes. But some kind of purpose was served by giving God your everything, which then makes it a success. I hold on to that verse, especially when I feel like a failure.

My favorite passage is Jeremiah 29:11

For I know the plans I have for you 'declares the Lord, 'plans for welfare and not calamity to give you a future and a hope.
NASB

I have claimed this promise for as long as I can remember. It doesn't matter what's going on in my life good, bad, or indifferent. God has the master plans, like an architect has the plans for a building. He knows exactly what's going on and my job is to just trust. That doesn't mean it's easy, I look at the last word HOPE, and focus on that, remembering that Christ's resurrection gave us salvation and therefore hope.

OK, I'll be first.

Jer. 31:3 "..Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee."

I'd love to win the goodie. I love mysteries as long as they're good that is.

Jeremiah 29:11 is my favorite: "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord. "Plans to give you a hope and a future."

Thanks!

Ephesians 2:8-9
For by grace are ye saved through faith and that not of yourselves: it is a gift of God; not of works, lest any man should boast.

God alone has saved my soul, and because of that I have hope and security in this life that I belong to my Creator for all eternity!
