Closer Than Your Skin by Susan D. Hill (and a GIVEAWAY!)

Photobucket

Reading this book gave me chills, the Spirit was so powerful as I read. And I do not say that lightly. It was as if God Himself was watching me read, waiting to see my reaction and then whispering to me, "Yes, that's right, Deena. That's Me."

Susan D. Hill's book, "Closer Than Your Skin" is a book born out of experience and some pain. She opens in the introduction with the reason she wrote it, and bares her soul to us in a way that is so intimate and genuine, it gives her message credibility off the charts.

Susan shares in personal anecdotes that a relationship with God is meant to be intimate and personal, but all too often we give that knowledge mere lip service. Rarely do we do what it takes to understand God as Father, a deeply intimate and revealing kind of relationship that we are all so desperate for.

In her book, Susan acknowledges that, for some, father isn't a word that conjures up warmth and love and intimacy. But she encourages us to transcend any pain we associate with the notion of God as Father to the understanding that He longs to live intimately with us.

With quotes from other authors and illustrations that will move you to tears, Susan painted a gorgeous picture of what God longs to do in my life and how God longs to be in my life. You cannot read "Closer Than Your Skin" and come away unchanged...I honestly would be totally amazed if you were the same.

This book is excellent for a women's group study, small group, or even as a study for those who have been wounded and need healing. I myself plan to teach this one day to our church family, some how, some way. I fell so deeply in love with the message that I wish I had the resources to give every believer a copy.

But, I DO have the resources to give at least TWO of you a copy...so leave me a comment and I'll draw two names next Friday. In the meantime, I'm giving "Closer Than You Think" six out of five bookmarks, with a tiny orange as a charm...and when you read that story...well, have the Kleenex handy!!

Happy Reading!

Deena
