What Lies Within by Karen Ball

What a fitting end to a wonderful trilogy!! I absolutely loved this series, and kind of wish it didn't have to end.

We first met the Justice siblings in "Shattered Justice", when Sheriff Dan Justice had to choose between revenge and forgiveness. Then we met the delightful Annie Justice in "Kaleidoscope Eyes" and learned of her amazing gift of seeing people and things in colors.

Now, we come to the end of this trilogy by meeting oldest sister, Kyla Justice. She's the oldest sibling and has carried the weight of keeping her brother and sister on the straight and narrow. So much so they tend to call her Sister/Mommy!

But Kyla has secrets of her own that she carries, and a burden she isn't willing to share with anyone. Except maybe hunky barrista Rafael Murphy, maybe? Or maybe not.

Funny how her walls seem to come down all because of Serendipity...and I'll leave it to YOU to read the book and find out why I say that. But just remember, the walls of Jericho didn't fall in just one day...and neither do the walls of Kyla Justice's heart!

Karen Ball has created three siblings with unique names and unique gifts, and a bond that radiates from the words on the pages of her books. I devoured "What Lies Within"...but my favorite by far is STILL "Kaleidoscope Eyes"...sorry, Karen!

These are suspenseful novels, but not just because of the murder and mayhem involved. A lot of the suspense comes from watching the power of God move gently but powerfully through each heart, and seeing just how lives can be changed when people live real for Jesus.

No matter which sibling you identify with--Dan, Annie, or Kyla, you will find common ground in the Family Honor series, and fall in love with characters who will stay with you for a very long time. This is a set of books I know I will read again someday, just to meet up with the Justice family and to remember how God can work in my life, if I will only let Him.

I give "What Lies Within" five out of five bookmarks, with a straight edge as a charm...because Sister/Mommy has to keep things on the straight and narrow, right??

Happy Reading!

Deena, what a lovely review! Thanks so much for your kind words and encouragement. Can't tell you how much it touches my heart to know my stories brought you enjoyment and encouragement. Blessings to you for all you're doing.

And it's okay that you like KEyes best. Annie and Kodi were loads of fun to create, so I'm delighted you connected with them.

Blessings to you today!
