WARNING TO ALL WHO ENTER...THIS IS A SPOILER ALERT!! SPOILERS CONTAINED HERE!! VIEWERS@@BEWARE!!

Let's get down to the nitty-gritty, shall we?? A lot was made of the deaths in book 7. We all went into this read holding on tightly to our favorite characters, hoping like mad they lived to tell the tale, but all bets were off on who lived and who died.

So, how did it hit you? Did you weep, sob, get angry?? Did your favorites survive, or did they become casualties of JK's mighty pen??

I was stunned by Hedwig's demise...and once Mad-Eye was gone, I didn't know what to expect. Quite a few times I just knew we'd seen the last of Hermione or of Ron...and I feared at least twice for Hagrid.

Still had high hopes that Dumbledore would do a Gandalf on us, but I kinda new that would not happen. I held it together until Fred...and didn't cry. Then we watched the first Harry Potter movie, and it hit me...

...no more twins. A lump grew in my throat, and I had to keep telling myself what I've been telling my kids, "They aren't real people, they aren't real people." But it sure feels like they are.

Every movie we watch, I get a lump in my throat when the twins show up on screen. Now, that's powerful writing.

And I thought my favorites had survived...until we lost the characters we did...and I realized something...

...they're all my favorites...and I'm incredibly sad now, so it's your turn.

Happy Reading!

I was stunned by Hedwig and Fred, too. I also thought we had lost Hagrid. So glad I was wrong. It is true that they are fiction but once you read something, they do become a part of your life. You are what you read after all.

I had guessed that Snape would turn out good and am glad to be right on that. Although I thought he would die, I imagined it would have been in the act of saving Harry.

The only thing that disappointed me was that she never said what Harry ended up doing as a career. I wanted him to become the Defense Against Dark Arts teacher. Oh well.

All in all, she kept me reading. I had a great time. Must mean she did an excellent job, eh?

i cried so hard during the snape and lily chapter. i will be honest...hedwig's and dobby's deaths did not affect me as much as fred's, lupin's and tonks did. but i was in tears during the snape chapter. it was so heartbreaking.

I just wish Fred had not died. I was expecting Lupin. But Fred's death was a shock especially because it happened right after Percy had become friends with the family again, so they were a whole for like an hour. And think about how George feels.

But boy Rowling even killed off Colin Creevey...
