Spring Break is over and now I have homework...my kids' homework! So my reading time is almost non-existent, and I think I'm breaking out into an allergic reaction from lack of printer's ink and paper:-)
But, having said that, and knowing the ginormous pile of books I have to read...I was wondering...
If you could only recommend ONE book to me to read...what would it be??

You are kidding me right? I was all excited to come win a free book and then I saw I had to recommend a title to you. As in a book that you have not read? You do realize I come to you to get all of my book titles, right? Well...if I had to recommend a Christian read to anyone it would be Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers. It was the first "Christian" novel I read that made me realize that Christian lit does not have to be all goodness, glory, prayers and goody-two-shoeness. It is the book that made me stick with reading more inspirational fiction. Now please award me with a prize as you know that I too always need new books :)
i would recommend Altar Call by Hope Lyda. really good chick lit and an all around fun read

Cold Sassy Tree by Olive Ann Burns. It is a coming of age love story set in the early 1900s.
This book was written in 1984 and has been a favorite of mine that I re-read every couple of years. DO NOT see the movie. It does not do the book justice.
I'd like non-fiction for $400 please, Alex. "The Christian's Secret of a Happy Life" by Hannah Whitall Smith. While the title may sound trite, it was written over 125 years ago and is SO good. Hard-hitting, in-your-face, and convicting. She's an annointed writer and the book abounds in practical, biblical application. I loved it!
When Crickets Cry by Charles Martin - his best book by a country mile and his others are pretty fabulous! Beautiful character development, a wonderful story that will make you laugh and cry and a writing style that is stunning! Don't include me in the draw though Deena - I already have my own copy :)
I would love to recommend The Faith Club to you!! It's by Suzanne Warner, Priscilla Oliver, and Ranya Idliby and it is simply fantastic. I posted about it a few weeks ago and I still think about how much I learned from that book! I don't think you've read it yet, as I don't see it on your review list, but you may have!!

and if it makes you feel better, since returning from my trip (and my kids spring break) I have done almost NO reading (until yesterday).
Umm-- a good escape book. Well i just read and REALLY enjoyed Where the Heart is (not a christian fiction). I have HEARD really good things about Quaker Summer from people I generally trust with book opinions, which is Christian fiction but which I will never read because I can't stand women Christian fiction writers (yes, I am aware that makes me broken and I am aware that is MY problem and not necessarily indicative of the merit of the work OF said authors.)
The book I am recommending is a nonfiction title called Shame Off You by D. Alan Wright.
This book is so powerful! In the words of Larry the Cucumber...

If I may recommend a recent book I read, it would be Mixed Signals by Liz Curtis Higgs. I started it as an exercise in broadening my reading horizons and was pleasantly surprised. The setting, prose and characters are wonderful.
You may have read this, but I recommend the Chronicles of the Kings series by Lynn Austin. Gods and Kings is the first. The second was my favorite. Have a great day!
